I am buying golf clubs for my girlfriends birthday, I was curious to know about these new hybrid irons.?

Would you recommend hybrid irons for a beginner? I heard hybrid irons elevate the ball more than regular irons. She practices with a SW,PW,9iron,26degree hybrid, and a Driver. She does well with the hybrid, but has trouble getting elevation with anything lower than a 8 iron. Would hybrid irons help her elevate the ball?
