Need a new scope for my 7mm rem mag!?

Im debating between a Nikon Monarch 3-12X, 42mm or a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14X, 40mm. I really like the look of the monarch, but im not sure which one is better.

"NIKON" says pretty much all that needs to be said about the quality of the two scopes. Now it's just a matter of picking positives from the numbers. I have a 3-9 on my 7mm Mag and up here in Alaska, that suits my needs just fine. There is rarely any need to go beyond that power on the highest setting, so I would question the need for 14 power. And between your two choices, that two power difference really isn't even enough to quibble over. On the other hand, I like the 42mm over the 40mm for its extra light gathering capability and the larger window of view. Just makes good sense to give yourself as much of both those options as you can. But even after all is said and done, the final choice is still yours. If price is not a problem between the two, pick the piece and the price you are most apt to be happy with and forget another option even existed. Make the most and the best of the choice you make. In ALL probability, it is going to work well for you. Very well! In fact, NIKON is betting their good name on it that it will. Good luck and good hunting!
